Hubby's neuroma has been acting up and the only shoes he finds comfortable for walking now are his running shoes. ( Saucony brand I think). Trouble is he doesn't like to wear them for travel to Europe. I think the comfort of those is from being kind of sponge or springy. Are there more traditional-looking shoes (ie, solid dark color, no neon stripes) that have a sole like that?
Has he ever tried the men's Born shoe line? They are amazingly soft and pliable - different than the Saucony as the softness is in the shoe bed and not the exterior, but they might work.
But heck, I'd wear the Saucony shoes if they're comfortable!! Saucony has some muted styles like this:

Take a look at the three brown walking shoes on this page. One of these may be right for your husband.

My husband has foot problems, and has three different pair of this brand. This brand is also recommended by the podiatrist that my husband and I both go to. My husband recently--in May--wore a pair of these shoes to England for three weeks.

We did city walking on pavement, and country walks on trails. Very comfortable.
Why doesn't he want to wear his comfortable shoes in Europe ? Lots of people (visitors and local) wear running shoes daily. My husband spent two months in Costco-purchased hiking boots this spring (France, Italy, Germany, Hungary) -- brown color, waffle-type sole, good support.
He might want to purchase metatarsal pads (around $10). They come in different sizes, small to large, and redistribute the weight on the bones of the feet, thus relieving the pressure on his neuroma. They can be found in good shoe stores that sell sensible walking or orthopedic shoes or probably any place with many medical supplies. It is critical that they be placed behind the ball of the foot so you might want to look at some YouTube videos to see how to properly attach them to your inner soles. I have purchased a very thin inner sole and attached the pad to it and then just used it with all my shoes. My running shoes never bother my neuroma because of the cushioning so I understand why his running shoes work for him. He might also consider some really good inner soles with good cushioning for his walking shoes--combined with the met pad that should make a big difference and he can wear the shoes he desires.
Look for shoes with a wide toe box. I've had neuroma relief with a combination of wearing Correct Toes toe spacers and Altra Zero Drop shoes with a wide toes box (altho distressingly the most recent ones I've ordered have a narrower toe box).

I hope he finds something that works for him!
Very helpful--I will show this to him. Thanks all!
How about the Propet Medicare line?
Some shoes are ugly but others aren't bad.
