I bought my first pair of Hokas a few weeks ago on Woot!, and I now understand the hype. They will definitely be going on my next trip to Europe. But I don't think I'll wear them on the flights - not much room for inflight swelling.

And I don’t understand the hype. I bought a pair they gave me blisters. They will not be going anywhere with me.

I have wide feet, I'm a nurse and on my feet 16 hrs a day. Hoka makes a wide shoe. I've been a nurse for 30yrs - I've worn everything and the HOKA Bondi 8 and Hoka Bondi SR are made for nurses - best shoe I've ever worn . . . so if you get the correct version of HOKA - they are great for ALL feet. I know many ortho surgeons and podiatrists who recommend Hoka Bondi, Keen, Saucony

I have a bad foot and wore Hokas for several years successfully, but once I took them on a RS tour, I got blisters. Got them even if they were fully broken in. Very discouraging. Switched it up to Brooks Ghost and voila! No blisters. Been happy camper ever since.

I love my Hoka's. I wear them for hiking and walking the dog and they're the most comfortable boot I own (and I have many!). I took them with me on my hiking trip to the Southwest US two years ago and they took a lot of punishment. Never suffered blisters right from the start however I've always worn decent hiking socks with them. The only negative is that they don't look particularly nice so for me they're definitely function over style.

I think for me, the problem with these is my ball and my foot is wider than the heel of my foot. They don’t do well on people like me in my experience. At least one other woman in my running group has the same problem

I found Brooks work much better for me.

But my point is I see people on here just buying shoes because they’re recommended on here. That doesn’t mean they’re going to work for your feet. One of my best friends is a podiatrist. And even he would tell you that not one shoe is perfect for everyone. He recommends several brands to try which he has to me, but he doesn’t necessarily focus on one brand.
