Someone told me that shoes can get quite dirty and wet in the catacombs of Paris. Any comments?
Well the ground is damp and uneven, and occasionally there are little puddles of water ( even in summer) . Wear good walking shoes . Heels are a no . It's a longish walk , it's poorly lit , and the surface is uneven in some places .
I've been 3 times now . ( various different family members / travel companions )
Just wear sensible walking shoes or good comfy walking sandals . I
What pat said. It's damp and drippy with some puddles. Wear comfy shoes as there are also a ton of stairs to enter and exit the catacombs and they're poorly lit as well. Also, be sure to get your tickets in advance and get there well before opening time. Even getting there an hour early we waited in line nearly 2 hours. It's worth the hassle- a fascinating place!
