Boots for Central Europe in December

We are traveling to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest in Dec 2015.
I am looking at various boots for the travel and would like to "break" them in this winter season.
What do you suggest? At the moment I am looking at the Ecco Rise Tall Boot and the Camper Palmera Boots.
Any advice would be great!
In addition any thoughts for appropriate shoes for my husband?

We were in Prague and other cities of Czech Rep. in winter 2010/2011. December was very cold and snowy. We were very glad that we had warm boots over ankles with an anti-slippery sole. Brand name of the boots it's not that important. They should be warm, a little bigger than your size so you can put a thick sock there and the sole of the boot should not easily slide on snow or ice. I cannot imagine what would we do if we came just with the shoes.

We spent the first two weeks of January in Munich and Berlin this year. It rained (or poured) all day everyday.
I brought Bogs Plimsoll Mid boots, my daughter brought a pair of Sorel's.
We wore them everyday.
Once or twice we wore shoes. A pair of Merrell's for me a pair of Saconcy sneakers for her.
My husband brought a pair of ankle high boots that are waterproof leather and a pair of Land's End zip-up type loafers.

Brought Bear Traps short boots for Austria/Germany in December 2014 -- with Costco merino wool socks (2 pair at a time) Suede-style leather was supposedly water-resistant but just to be safe I went to REI and got Nik-Wax waterproofing kit. Warm and dry in the snow.

Adding to my previous post, I brought my Merrell mocs as my shoes, my Bogs as my boots.
I didn't get to wear the shoes really because of the weather.
It was in the mid to high 30's and raining, pouring with lots of wind.
I don't know what the weather will be like when you're there, but my feet would have been a wet cold mess without my Bogs. I live in MN so I wear them a lot here. They're good up to -40*f!
I also brought SmartWool socks and some wool blend knee-highs I found at Target.

I wear Bogs at home in the winter - not sure I'd want to travel with them as they are a bit heavy - but they are super dry, warm and comfy - and when my dog drags me into knee high drifts, I don't get snow down my boots...lol. My go-to boot is Blundstones...I usually just wear a heavier sock in them in the winter (I wear them winter, spring and fall), but I think they do have ones with a wool lined insole. I'm on my 3rd pair of Blunnies and I love them. Blundstones also available for men.

We took a Christmas Market River Cruise last year through that area and I got a pair of waterproof Keen boots which worked out perfect for me . . . I got them on Amazon, they had great support, looked nice, had good tread for all the cobblestone, steps and snowy hills.

Oh, I thought you said books but you said boots.
Silly me, who would want books for a European trip.
