Best walking shoe for Toledo in December

Asking this on behalf of my wife and myself. We are asking for recommendations for walking shoes/boots for Toledo this December. We plan on doing a lot of walking and I understand it's hilly as well as cobblestoned streets. We will be there 5 days. Thanks.

I can't speak for December, but I can speak from experience in October. I wore good broken-in running shoes (with my orthotics) and I was fine. My feet never hurt and I had no blisters. People in my day tour wearing boots complained they were too heavy. If you listen to Rick Steves, he always promotes sturdy hard-soled shoes but they don't work for me due to issues with my arches.

Yes, Toledo is hilly and the streets are cobble stone. While I'm middle-age and no longer in top shape, I had no problems walking the hills because I'm used to exercise. Others in my group struggled -- some even had to quit the tour and taxi back to the bus.

Tell your wife to leave any heels at home. Just because they are comfy at home doesn't mean they will be when you are walking unfamiliar turf.

I've never been to Toledo, but I brought two pairs of boots last December for my trip to Amsterdam, Paris and Brugges. We walked EVERYWHERE and my feet were tired, but not blistered or impaired at any point. I wore Keen "Bern Baby Bern" boots and Teva "DeLaVina Low" boots in black. I was able to put my orthotics into the Teva boots if I needed them. I plan to bring them to Austria for our trip this coming December. Good luck!

I would suggest the Blondo Women's Anelie Knee-High Boot for your wife. They are wool-lined and amazingly comfortable and warm. I wore them every day during our two week trip to Alsace, Germany and Austria. I had no problems with with hilly cobble-stoned streets and walked in them for hours everyday. And they were pretty enough to wear to the Vienna Opera.
