My favorite is Brooks Ghost. The current version is Ghost 16. What shoes do others who must wear AA width shoes recommend?
I have a very narrow heel and arch but prefer a wider toe box. I'm also partial to lightweight and zero drop (versus chunky) so that I feel connected to the surface. Favorites for travel are...
- Danner Logger 917 GTX: Excellent leather boots with a Gore Tex liner that are waterproof; I've worn on easy-moderate hiking trails in Iceland, slick cobblestones in Belgium, and city streets in London.
- Adidas Samba OG: Enduringly stylish for a reason. Come in a zillion color-ways that dress up with palazzo pants or a skirt and dress down with jeans and a tee.
- Camper Right Nina: Durable leather ballet flats with a thick elastic ankle strap to fit narrow feet.
- Teva Olowahu: The only flip-flops I've ever found that stay on my narrow foot! Cushy and quick drying. Not for all-day, but find for shorter walks in the hot weather, beach, and spa days.
Hi Amygee. None of the shoes you listed come in AA width.
Barefoot often takes into account different foot widths, including narrower ones. Brands like Vivobarefoot, Xero Shoes, and Merrell offer models that adapt well to slimmer feet.
Furthermore, nowadays you can find specialized barefoot shoe stores in most cities, making it easier to try on different models and find the one that best fits your foot. And the best part is that you're no longer limited to just one style - there are options for everything, from sandals to athletic shoes and even boots
I totally get the struggle! I’ve had great luck with brands like boohoo & Intersport—they actually offer narrow widths and don’t feel bulky. Worth checking out if regular shoes always feel too wide.
Keen Rose Sandals.
SAS (San Antonio Shoemakers) makes women's and men's shoes in various widths and sizes. For women they range from size 4 to 13 and six different widths from slim to triple wide.
Good walking shoes. Styles that don't look so athletic if you want something in a solid color with matching color sole and no company logo in some screaming color down the side of the shoe. Also sandals and dressier looking shoes. And I've never had to break them in.
It's best if you can find an SAS store so they can measure your foot. But they also sell on-line and I think Zappos carries them.
