And the winner is..........

After trying over 30 pairs of walking sandals for Italy....the winner is "Clark's Morse Tour"!!! I truly now believe there is no one sandal that will fit everyone's feet perfectly and thank gawd for Zappos and Amazon. All the edges are comfy, and all the straps adjustable. It's has nice arch support and good support sole. I like the neutral color and my feet don't stand out and it looks pretty decent with skirts and dresses. I would like to find one more pair in black as an alternate. I do have one sandal in black I might take, but it doesn't have a back strap...but it will be my alternate pair, not my main pair so it might work...and it's already broken it.

I tried tons that were suggested in the post below with dozens for shoe suggestions. Since I have never really purchased expensive walking shoes before, having that post really helped me in discovering all the brands and styles out there to try. It was invaluable. Many of them would have worked and were quite cute for just around town..but for MY foot, not walking miles each day. I have found that straps must rub and bother me more than the average person.

Yea! I hope you will come back after you have traveled for the definitive report but they look really comfortable and adjustable. I understand totally about straps rubbing or other issues. And, yes, I love Zappos too and sometimes think I am keeping my UPS route guy in business.

The Melanie is very nice! I have a pair of Aetrex waterproof boots (mid height), I travel with in the winter. They are warm, waterproof and very light weight!

I tried the "Cyndi" first---also cutout leather but with a thing style. Not a "flip flop" as it has a heel strap. It is cute but I was worried about the thong part holding up to lots of walking.

Glad to see another shoe post. I know there are many others, and they have helped me so much in making my choice. Now that I have found a perfect shoe, I want to return the favor to those still looking. My size 10 bunioned feet have always fit perfectly into Clarks Privos. Alas, they have stopped making Privos. Keens don't fit my arch, and current model Merrells don't seem to fit like my old ones. I found a pair of Easy Spirit close-toed sandals called EFast/ Explore 24 Splash (depending on the year made) at Nordstrom Rack. They fit very well, but were only in the light sand color. A great color, but I wanted black. I located them here: (longest link ever)

They are perfect in every way, adjustable at the heel and the side. Cute even in a size 10. Lots of cushiony bounce, especially at the heel.
Hope this helps someone else.

Those are cute...reminds me of the Keen Rose but without the ugly rubber at the toe. Have you ever tried the Clarks Lucena? That is a very comfortable sandal, the straps on the top don't have edges. The reason they won't work is not enough arch support...but if you have bunions they would work, as the leather gives.

Lulu, don't forget to wear your shoes...a lot...before you go. You want them well broken in, and your feet used to them. I was just reading about Ricks tours today. They say 'light' walking is 2 to 4 miles. Moderate is 2 to 6 miles, and strenuous is up to 8 miles...per day.

I really like the Clarks you picked. Nice shoe. Are you still taking the Keen as well? You think the rubber is ugly, I think it's awesome. Protects your toes when everyone is trying to get up close to the Mona Lisa and some big lunk steps on your foot. Or you are in a crowded subway train.

Thanks! I will remember to start walking in them. We are having a pretty week here this week, so instead of walking in my sneakers, I think I'll go for some walks in my sandals. Thanks for the reminder. I did send back the Keen Rose's. That big rubber toe thing was catching on my toe nail. I need one more pair of walking sandals, I think I would like Black.
