Ypres car rally June 2025

We are staying in Bruges June 27-30, and we are trying to arrange a tour of some WWI sites in and around Ypres. We have had some difficulties in finding a guide, telling us that there is a large car rally happening in Ypres that weekend. Is anyone familiar with this rally to know how much it would impact our visit? Would we still be able to get around to the WWI sites if we decided to rent our own car? Does the day make a difference? I don’t want to forego the WWI sites, but I also don’t want to be stuck and not able to get around very easily. We would be willing though to limit the places we go.

In addition, is there a good resource that maps out a driving tour of these WWI sites?

Thank you for your help and information!

It has an email address to contact the organisers. It may be worth dropping them a quick email to get an idea of road closures and their advice. In my experience, in stage rallying they'll want to get all competitors through a special stage and then open the road to the public again as quickly as possible. The roads that close for special stages are more likely to be backroads.

[edit] I'm assuming you renting a car btw, if you can't find a guide to do it. Once you can pin down exactly where you want to go, you can compare that with the rally.

The rally centre, podium and service park will be located on the Market Square of Ypres, in a unique historical and especially cosy setting.

I can't find a definitive list of where the stages will be. There is the chance that they will be in the same rural locations as WWI sites. It's definitely worth telling the organisers where you intend to visit and asking their advice.

I could actually get quite excited about Belgian National Championship rallying in Ypres.
