Dress how you would when the weather is on average high 60's low 50's. I was there about a week ago, the weather in early May is similar to late September early October. I just had a windbreaker with a hood and long sleeve shirt underneath that, light layers.

Living close to Bruges is my experience that it can be anything. Hot, well over 25°C is still possible but chilly weather too, raining, dry, wind, strong or almost no wind but very likely no freezing weather. It can vary the same day, so in other words it’s hard to predict, think about wearing layers.

I was in Bruges last year at that time, Sept. 28 – Oct. 2, and it was warm, in the high 70s. But, it can also be cool and rainy. So, you really have to be prepared for everything. I like to check metoblue a few days before I leave so I have a better idea of what to pack. If it looks warm, I’ll take a couple more short sleeve shirts. Europe always feels warmer to me than the actual temperature. And when I check the weather at home, it always looks like I’m going to get a lot of rain, but I’ve been lucky so far with just a few days of showers during my travels.

I love Bruges and can’t wait to go back. Have a great trip!!

Belgium has a rainy climate, year round. Can't stress that enough. Take at least an umbrella and shoes that won't dissolve in the rain. Maybe you will be lucky and not have rain, but expect it and you won't be caught short.
