We are flying back to the US from Brussels...

We are visiting our daughter in London in mid-February for a few days, and flying home from Brussels on 2/23...what we are looking for is advice on what to do in the Belgium area from 2/19-2/22, ending in Brussels on 2/22, as our flight is early on 2/23.

We want to do Bruges...my initial thought is to take the train from London on Wednesday morning to Brussels and then train over to Bruges and stay there Wednesday and Thursday night. It appears that 2 nights is sufficient to explore Bruges...we'd be there sometime Wednesday afternoon and then leave Friday morning.

The current plan is to stay Friday and Saturday night in Brussels, which gives us some portion of Friday and all day Saturday to explore.

Does that sound like a reasonable schedule tht will provide us with a nice trip?

After buying the Rick Steves guidebook, I had a thought that maybe we spend Wednesday and Thursday in Amsterdam, and then Friday night in Bruges and Saturday in Brussels, but that sounds like a lot of running around and not a lot of "vacation".

What is anyone's opinion???

Thanks.

Your first option sounds more reasonable. Some people can't get enough of Brugge, a day is usually about enough for me. You may also want to consider the quick train ride to nearby Gent.

Yes, first option. I flew out of Brussels the day after New Year, took the train to the airport, very easy.

Thanks to both for the quick advice!

Seems to make the most sense.
