Vegetarian food suggestions in Bruges/Brussels etc.

We are visiting Bruges/Brussels/Ghent and possibly Antwerp and are strictly vegetarian (Dairy ok).
Any suggestions for good restaurant/coffee shops in these cities that serve Vegetarian-friendly food would be great.

Depending on where you are in Brussels, it looks like there is still a Le Pain Quotidien in the Galleries Royal Saint-Hubert near the Grand Place in Brussels. It's been several years since I ate there but they have always had veg and vegan selections. They are basically a coffee shop/bakery set up but have light meals as well.

Le Pain Quotidien has had significant financial difficulties and has closed a lot of their stores in various countries, but as noted they’re still operating in Brussels, and in various US cities such as the Washington DC area. They’re similar to Pret a Manger or Panera.

In Ghent, I suggest Souplounge for lunch. They have a choice of several homemade soups each day and I'm pretty sure some of the choices are vegetarian. Also in Ghent, Little Asia on Oudburg had lots of vegetarian items.

@Slate, I knew they had closed a bunch of their restaurants as I used to eat at one in Paris that is gone as is the one near Victoria Station in London. It was always an easy go to for a quick vegan meal. Plus they had the best vegan chocolate moelleux cake ever. To me it’s a bit better than Pret since they had table service. Have never eaten at Panera so…

One of my kids is vegetarian and we easily found options, usually with cheese and often eggs. We tend to look for a nearby cafe when we get hungry rather than having restaurants planned and reserved. These places all serve meat, too, but had more than one vegetarian option.

Barouche Brugge had falafel, hummus, and halloumi as options in the pitas, bowls, and salads. Lizzie's Wafels had hot chocolate and coffee as well as waffles.

In Ghent, Souplounge had vegan soup bases and then you choose what you want added - vegetables, cheese, croutons, meatballs. Tante Paula coffe shop/bakery had a tasty vegetarian version of a sausage pastry and hard boiled eggs and quiche. Sabor de Buenos Ares had vegetarian empanadas and tasty desserts. Frites Tartuur had vegetarian croquettes and burgers, but I don't know if the frites were cooked in plant-based oil. There is a page on visitgent.be that highlights vegetarian and vegan restaurants.

In Brussels, Croix100 had vegetarian options for Croissant sandwiches. We also had vegetarian Indian food at Feux de Bengale.

Do you know the website Happy Cow? It is good for Belgium also, lots of vegetarian and vegan choices. Also I can recommend the chain Exki for lunches: https://www.exki.com . Salads galore. Also Le Perroquet in Brussels - it is a restaurant with pita sandwiches, with some good vegetarian choices.

More than 90% of the restaurants and brasseries in Flanders offer vegetarian main courses on their menus. So you’ll certainly have no trouble choosing something.

Some highly recommended spots are:

•Broers van Julienne in Antwerp https://maps.app.goo.gl/UYKW9bTCV7fQvaVU6

•Le Botaniste in Ghent en Brussels

And for the very best Humus&Hortense in Brussels https://maps.app.goo.gl/TcxZqQ4jJyTY6gsY8

Good point plannermom about plant-based oil for frites. Frites Atelier in Ste.-Cathérine is one of the ones that uses vegetable oil instead of beef fat for frites. It has quite gourmet offerings (including beer on tap) and might be good for a sit-down lunch.
