Travel from Brussels to Bordeaux

It will be a trip of 4.5 hours on high-speed trains that first travel from Brussels Midi station to Paris Gare du Nord station. In Paris, you likely would need to change train stations to travel from Paris’ Montparnasse station to Bordeaux St. Jean station. That change can be done on Metro Line 4 in about twenty minutes. The change of train stations in Paris will make the overall journey more than five hours. Some train tickets for this journey are less than €80. Flight schedules and fares from Brussels to Bordeaux can be seen at www.Skyscanner.com. The problem with flying is that there don’t appear to be any direct flights from BRU Airport to Bordeaux and so the available flights can take more than five hours plus.

Friday and Monday easyjet has direct a flight

When we Belgians want to fly to Bordeaux, we set off from Amsterdam-Schiphol (or take one of the two easyJet flights from Brussels Airport).

Most travellers, however, will opt for the high-speed train (Brussels–Paris–Bordeaux).

Also Wednesdays there are flights from BRU to BOD on easyjet; you can also fly BRU-AMS-BOD on KLM, and there are lots of those flights. It still takes 5hrs+ though.

What places in Belgium are you visiting? Leaving the country via Brussels might not be the most efficient way. There are direct TGVs from Lille to Bordeaux (there used to be from Brussels). If you are in the West (eg. Brugge) you could arrange a shuttle to Lille, and the TGV from here.

Travelling from Brussels it is possible to avoid having to change stations in Paris by changing in one of the peripheral stations. The trick to get those shown on sncf-connect is to add "Massy TGV" as a VIA.

Direct trains from Lille to Bordeaux leave very early (around 6am) or arrive in the dark (after 10pm).

There is a train from Brussels at 1309 (to Marseilles), arrive Charles de Gaulle TGV 1451, change, depart CDG TGV 1612 Bordeaux arrive 2001 (train started from Strasbourg)

Since there's no direct high-speed rail between Brussels and Bordeaux, flying is usually your best bet.

So you’re now proving that you’ve never flown to Bordeaux-Mérignac, the second-worst airport in Europe.
(... and this has nothing to do with the current fires, which is why there is no public transport running at the moment).

There are several direct flights from Brussels Airport (BRU) to Bordeaux (BOD), and the flight takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, making it the quickest and often the most affordable option if you book in advance.

Where do you find "several direct flights"?

The only direct flights I can find are on easyjet, one on Monday and one on Friday.

Whether either of those fit OP's schedule, is unknown.

Thank you all for making time to post your helpful suggestions. We do need to travel to Bordeaux on a Saturday, so that does limit our options. Your responses will be helpful as we decide how to navigate this part of our trip:)
