Taking the Belgium/Holland tour in May, flying Seattle to Amsterdam to Brussels. What is best option to Ghent? Direct train from Bru to Ghent, or transfer trains in Bru? Is there an online site on which one can buy an eticket in advance, hopefully good for the entire day of travel? Thank you in advance...

There are through trains from Brussels Airport to Ghent. You can find times online at www.belgianrail.be (search for "Bruxelles-Nat-Aeroport" as your starting point). It is possible to buy tickets online, but there is no discount for advance purchase on domestic trains in Belgium, so it would probably be more convenient to buy at the station, especially if the online tickets are limited to a single specific train.

No advantage to advanced purchase. Just buy them at the station, and hop on the next train.
