Train tickets from Brussels to Bruges with stop in Ghent

Hello - If I purchase a roundtrip ticket from Brussels to Bruges, can I stop in Ghent on the way back and continue my journey towards Brussels using the same ticket on a same day? Or do i need to buy 3 separate tickets - Brussels to Bruges, Bruges to Ghent and then Ghent to Brussels? Thank you!

You’re allowed to interrupt your journey as long as you stop is on the most direct route from A to B. In your case that means you’re allowed to interrupt your journey from Bruges to Brussels in Ghent. No need to buy a separate ticket.
