Brussel-Centraal/Bruxelles Central - the Central Station (as opposed to Midi/Zuid or Nord/Noord)

It is literally a 5-minute walk to the Grand Place which is probably what you want to see. Here's a googlemap walk from the Central Station.

When you purchase your ticket some have the choice of Any Belgium Station - ABS. If your train comes in to Midi you can hop on a train to Central with no problem.

You don’t need Any Belgian Station option to get to Brussels Centraal. All Thalys tickets to Brussels Midi are good for one journey (Belgian Rail, not the Metro) from Midi to Centraal or Nord. Just retain your Thalys ticket. This is true in reverse for departures on Thalys from Midi.

All local rail (non Thalys) to “Brussel” tickets are good to get off at any one of the three downtown stations.

This discussion does not cover BRU airport.

Thanks for the correction, Tim. I've used ABS when transiting thru Brussels to Ghent and to Eastern Belgium but thought it applied here as well. I'm glad I was wrong!

All trains from Ghent to Brussels will call at Centrale, so don't worry about the discussion above.
