I am coming from Brussels and going to The Hague by train. I want to end up as near as possible to the Mauritshuis museum. I am aware that there is a central station somewhat near by the museum and the train station looks very large and complicated. Any tips on where and what to look for?
You indeed need the station »Den Haag Centraal«, from where it's a 10-minute walk to the Mauritshuis. It is a terminus station with a simple lay-out. Just walk along the platform and you are in the hall. You need the left-hand exit, which you can't miss. Around the station it is somewhat chaotic. When outside, turn immediately to your right along the tram platform. After fifty meters or so, cross the tram tracks and you'll find yourself on the Herengracht.
We took the train to the The Hague recently to visit the Mauritshaus. When we exited the train starion there was a wide pedestrian way, easy to walk. There was plenty of signage directing the way to Mauritshaus and other sites. It is a beautiful museum filled with so many treasures.
We enjoyed visting the Parliament buildings too. Next time we are in The Netherlands we intend to stay over at least one night in The Hague.
