Taxi During Ghent Festival

Hello
We will be arriving in Gent on July 24th, which we didnt realize that the Gent Festival is on, and roads are closed.
We had planned on using the P4 bus to KORENMARKT from GENT SINT-PIETERSSTATION, and walk the rest.
Now we are not sure if this is possible, theres mention that there is 1 route to our hotel, the Gent NH Hotel, by car (Taxi),
only open from 6 AM till 1 PM, but I am not positive of this, as Gents transit system website is being up graded.
Taxi from GENT SINT-PIETERSSTATION is 4.6 KM, I noticed that we could transfer trains to Dampoort station instead,
which the station is only 1.9 KM to our hotel. and possibly get a taxi at Dampoort station. as I dont know if trams will run into the closed area?
We are not sure if there is a taxi stand at Dampoort?
any help would be great.
Thanks
John

With the hotel you mean: Hotel NH Gent Belfort at Hoogpoort? Think the option involving the least walking is the train to Dampoort and a taxi that stops as close as possible to Vlasmarkt / Walter de Buckplein. From there some 300m walking to your hotel. It's possible the taxi stops only at Steendam, in that case you have to walk 500m. For Dampoort you don't need an extra ticket.

Using public transport you have to walk further. Closes stop is at Lippensplein on the way to Zuid as far as I can see and in that case you have to walk 700m. For going to there take tram T1 direction Zuid from Gent-Sint-Pieters.

Hi, I’ve been a “reader” on this forum for a long time but never participated actively. I really enjoy this forum! As a Ghent-citizen I feel it is my responsibility (sounds important!) to get you informed: you can take a taxi at Sint-Pieterstation, Dampoort station, on Sint-Michielsplein, in the Ottogracht, Steendam, Reep, Keizer Karelstraat or on Woodrow Wilsonplein (the South). Pay close attention, because the prices are fixed and taxi drivers must adhere to them. During the Ghent Festivities, 'tariff B' is in force in every taxi with a blue bar on the roof. Boarding costs 12 euros, after 22 hours 15 euros. Price includes the first 3 kilometers. Then 3 euros per kilometer are added. Uber also drives around Ghent, so you can try that, but those prices can vary a lot.
The Ghent Festivities are fairly unforgettable if you get into it unprepared, but I would say: let yourself go, don’t plan too much in advance and enjoy every moment!
