My husband and I save up all our change in a big jar, then each time we go to Europe (not more than bi-annually), we cash it all in and however much we've got we splurge on (what we intend will be) an amazing dining experience. It's usually $250 or thereabouts. We scored wildly in Athens in 2008, missed the mark in Venice in 2010, and bagged the dinner in favor of a soccer match in Madrid in 2012. So, hoping that our 3rd time will be a charm, can anyone recommend an amazing dining experience to be had in Brussels this April? Bruges could also work, but I figured that Brussels, being bigger and home of the EU and all that, would probably have more options. Thanks for any and all suggestions & advice!
so what kind of food do you want?
Nigel: we are not after any particular type of food, more just after a complete experience: delicious food (could be exotic or not, regional or not), beautifully presented by competent, gracious hosts in an idyllic and memorable setting. Thanks!
Thank you! I should add that it's just us 2 & I'd estimate our ceiling for the meal at about $300/€270. And we don't drink so we can factor out the wine!
There are some really wonderful places in the St. Catherine's neighborhood west of the Grand Place. Sadly, I don't have specific names, but most of them specialize in seafood and are most likely what you are looking for.
I think a dinner at the Hotel Metropole in Brissels is something you won't forget.
If you can overnight it is even better. Savour it.
