I just read on the US embassy website in Belgium that if you enter Belgium from a red country(like USA, France, UK) you need to take a PCR test and quarantine until you get the results. It says that you need to self quarantine. Can I quarantine at my hotel in Belgium?
Richard,
Thank you.
Wow that website is so confusing. I have a 7 hr layover arriving from the US and was going to leave the airport for a few hours. Fully vaccinated. So bc less than 48 hrs I’m good ?
I don't think so. I don't see the <48 hour exemption anywhere. I've been trying to get an answer to this...
- Are you travelling from a red zone outside the European Union or Schengen area? If you do not have an EU nationality or main residence you may only travel to Belgium for essential reasons or if you have an approved vaccination certificate with full vaccination. Read more here. -Do you have a vaccination certificate?
- Get tested on day 1 or 2 after you arrive in Belgium.
- You have to stay in quarantine until the negative result of your test on day 1 or 2.
- Get tested again on day 7.
FWIW, I found this on the https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/faq/#006 site.
For short-stay travel (less than 48 hours) in Belgium or abroad, please tick the relevant box on the Passenger Locator Form and no text message will be sent. In this case, quarantine is not mandatory. This does not apply to travelers returning from a third country classified as a very high-risk zone. There are currently no countries classified as very high-risk zones.
