Has anyone done taken the rail from Paris to Dinant? My first thought was to train up to Brussels, and then down to Dinant, and it looks like there is maybe a need to grab a regional train off of the main line from Namur? I'd like to stay the night around there, and then train back up to the main circuit and maybe stay in Ghent before moving on. Might that work ok?
I haven't done that trip personally but if you look at b-europe.com (Belgian Rail's international website), you need to take a Eurostar to Brussels-Midi and switch trains there, after which mostly you will then change trains in Bruxelles-Luxembourg, which is a station in Brussels, but a very few require you to take a train to Namur and change trains there. There are always two changes, and Brussels is usually the hub. But sure, stay the night in Dinant and Ghent, sounds like a nice trip.
