Another vote for Hotel Goezeput, Brugge. We just stayed there 3 weeks ago. Great location, nice walk from train station and close to center of town.

You can't get a hotel that is much closer to the town square in Brugge than the Crowne Plaza. I know it is a corporate chain hotel with a modern design but it is high in quality and has a lot of history behind it. You can go into the basement and see all of the artifacts. I would reserve a room with a view of Burg square. It is enchanting to wake up each morning to the sound of trotting horses and see the tourists start to pour in. Then you have the city to yourself when everyone has left in the evening. There are rooms with two double beds available.

We stayed at Huis Konig B&B and absolutely loved it! We were greeted with a welcome drink and snacks, while Lynn gave us suggestions and maps of the city. The rooms are beautiful and since Lynn is a former chef, her breakfast is incredible. If you want to experience the people of Brugge and their warm hospitality, this is the place!

Thanks to all for suggestions. Have chosen Hotel Goezeput in Brugge based on two strong recommendations. Still looking at Brussels options and 2 night barge stay in Amsterdam. Suggestions still welcome.

I had never heard of Hotel Goezeput. It looks like a good choice even if it requires extra walking to get to the town square. It also has rooms that can accomodate three people.

Here I was recommending the Crowne Plaza but now I have an alternative in case it is not available. Thanks!

We stayed at the Hotel Ibis Brussels off Grand Place. We walked from the train station to hotel and hotel is very close to the Grand Place. Typical Ibis, very clean, we were happy- stayed September 2016.

In July we stayed at the Ibis near the Grand Place and were very happy with it. Clean, friendly staff, good price, a great location (handy to both the Grand Place and the train station), and the room was quiet. Also, the breakfast was impressive (and I'm not a breakfast person).
