Museums in Bruges

Which four museums should we see on our free day in Bruges with the museum pass? Is the Bruges Historiam worth a visit?

What are your interests? If you like art, I was there last September and absolutely loved the Groeninge Museum.

Make sure you are not visiting on a Monday! That is a closure day for museums in Bruges.

I also enjoyed the Groeningemuseum as well as Sint-Janshospitaal. I did the church with Michelangelo's Mother and Child as well. I visited Arentshuis but have NO memory of what was there nor did I take any pictures, lol. So...apparently nothing captured my interest with the museum card I had. Unless they have some kind of special exhibition, I'd probably skip this for a short visit.

I've not been in the Gruuthusemuseum but the description of the collection looks interesting to me.

I did go into the Basilica of the Holy Blood which is free but I believe I also paid a nominal fee to go into the Treasury there.

We loved the Groeningemuseum as well. I'd also strongly recommend Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (the big background story is that of Charles the Bold and his daughter, Mary of Burgundy, who are buried in that church, and the Michelangelo sculpture) and Sint-Janshospitaal. We walked the 4 windmills along the ramparts but didn't go into Sint-Janshuismolen. I can message you what I wrote up on all of these for another travel site if interested.

Oh yes, I'd do Basilica of the Holy Blood too. We didn't do the Treasury but the old church was free.

I've never had or needed the museum pass.

4 in one day?

When will you have time for sightseeing, riding a boat, exploring and - just maybe - doing scientific comparison tests on chocolate and/or beer?
