My Wife and I start a best of Germany, Switzerland, Austria tour on June 30th. Prior to this we are spending 3 days between Cologne and Mainz, We were wondering what we could see in Luxembourg City from the train station in a 2 1/2 lunch stop?
The city center is compact and a short (10-20 minutes, from what I remember) walk from the main train station. You could explore the casemates and take a walk down to the Ville Basse (Lower City).
Hi Sarah
Thanks for the Information, after reading your reply, then looking the city up on line, my wife and I have decided to do exactly as you suggest.
Thanks again,
Steve
Glad I could help. If you'd like more suggestions about what else to see, please ask!
Thanks Sarah, any suggestions for a light lunch.
There is the American Cemetery close to Luxembourg City; this is where General George Patton is laid to rest. The city bus goes out there. I've never been there myself but Luxembourg City and this site along with the German Cemetery are on my agenda the next time I go to Europe. I'm not sure if you'll have time or not. You may want to send Luxembourg City's Tourist Office at [email protected] to request information.
Enjoy your trip
I don't remember the name of the places where I ate meals so I can't recommend anything. You can go on TripAdvisor and ask in the Luxembourg City forum for suggestions. Have fun planning your trip!
Luxembourg has all kinds of free music events from June 21-September 9 called 'Summer In The City.'
