Visiting Ghent and Bruges on day trips and looking for recommendations on lace shops
I don't have a specific one or ones to suggest, I just want to warn you that most inexpensive lace sold there is factory made, usually in China.
I'd advise caution if you want the original.
I visited Bruges last year on a RS tour of Belgium and the Netherlands and was also interested in lace. If you are looking for authentic Belgian lace, this shop is a wonder with high quality contemporary and antique lace, 't Apostelientje, http://www.apostelientje.be . Be mindful that the many shops in town do not carry authentic, handmade lace, and the prices reflect that.
The one Nancy recommended is the place to go. We bought several pieces at various price points, from inexpensive hankies to a beautiful antique piece for our daughter to carry on her wedding day. The shop owner was very helpful. Its a bit off the beaten path but we walked there from the center in 15 minutes or so.
