Not sure if you are still looking for a hotel, but we just returned from overseas. We stayed at Hotel Patritius in Bruges (Rick Steves recommendation) and it was delightful. Just slightly north of all the activity but easily in walking distance to all at the major sights. The owners of the hotel were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable, (larger than many European hotels) and offered a wonderful "get going" breakfast. We couldn't have been more pleased. Safe travels.

Yes, still looking for accommodation. I will stay at Ghent. How do you look for hotels in europe ? Any tips ? where do you find Rick Steves' recommendation on hotels ? If you don't mind to explain it. Thanks

Helenli, I think if you want Rick's hotel recommendation for a city in Europe, it would be best to get a hold of some of his guide books, maybe at a public library if you don't want to buy them. Otherwise, booking.com is a good source.

Are you planning to change hotels between Gent, Brugge and Brussel?
Brugge and Brussel are both only 30 mins from Gent with several trains per hour. Save yourself the hassle of checking in and out, taxis to and from station with your luggage, and finding out how the shower in the next hotel works ;-) It's comfortable to get back to a familiar place after some day tripping.

In Bruges we stayed at Huis Koning B&B. Great place. In Ghent we stayed at hotel Harmony. Nice hotel in a good location, a couple minute walk to the castle and a few minutes to the main plaza. We use Rick’s guides as well as Trip Advisor to search for hotels.

No idea why you’d want to spend 3 nights in Brussels if you still plan on dong so. One is sufficient. In March we spent 3N in Bruges and 2N in each Ghent and Antwerp. Our last night was in Brussels.

We also depend on Rick Steve's guidebooks for recommendations. Very rarely have we been disappointed. I typically buy them on Amazon and find they are worth the investment for not only recommendations on hotels but restaurants, sights to see and answers to many general questions I have when visiting a new country.

To answer everyone :)

I will stay in Ghent for 4 N, train from Utrecht to Ghent before. One day trip to Bruges, one day to Brussels, remaining in Ghent. Sounds doable and not to tired right ? How's this pace ? I am hoping for a more relaxing trip this time.

Hi jaimeelsabio,

I am looking for hotel in Ghent x 4 nights, You stayed at Hotel Harmony. I read this hotel in detail, central location, at front of Leie river. Mind you share what did you do, where you went at Ghent ?

Do you walk between places or take transit ?

I sent a private message. From our hotel, walking to St. Bavos is only 15 minutes. Everything is very walkable. The only public transport we took was Tram #1 from the St. Peters station to Gravensteen castle. The castle is a couple minute walk to the hotel at most. We also took a taxi from the hotel to the Dampoort station to catch a train to Antwerp.
