HELP! Safe, reasonable Brussels hotels in center of Brussels

Hi all...I am traveling with my daughter as a college graduation gift around Amsterdam and have 2 nights in Brussels. I'm having trouble finding a reasonably priced, quality hotel near the Grand Palace. Our budget is about 80 to 125 euro per night. Not sure I'm ready for a hostel! If anyone has a suggestions or a successful search method, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't remember the price, but last June I stayed at Ibis off Grand Place. It was a terrific location, just 5 minutes from the Central Station and 5 minutes from Grand Place. We did not get breakfast at the hotel, but instead walked to Galeries Royale Saint-Hubert nearby and ate breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien. Look it up on googlemaps and you will see how close everything is.

editing to add: Just looked at rates and for a random weekday date in late May it was 139€ so perhaps more than you want to pay. I will tell you I would stay there again in a minute. I happened to be traveling with my brother that time, but I would stay there as a solo traveler any time.

Thank you so much, Pam. That was helpful and thoughtful advice. That is one of the hotels listed in Rick's book. I am definitely interested in your breakfast suggestion too. I will research the Hotel Ibis off Grand Palace tonight. I'm debating making hotel reservations with no cancellations or modifications, which are significantly less expensive. Any thoughts? I don't have trip insurance. Thanks again Pam. Since I'm the travel agent for this trip I appreciate all the help I can get!

You can try Hotel A La Grande Cloche. I stayed there last summer for 3 nights and I enjoyed it, was very comfortable and staff was helpful. It's a about a 5-10 min walk from Grand Place (about 3 blocks), and halfway between two train stations (Central and Midi/Zuid). Gets good reviews on booking.com and T/A, clean, safe. I tried a sample date in June and it's about €85/night for a double ensuite.

Thanks Nancy! I will research it tonight. It is just the location I am looking for. It also fits my price range. I am arriving in Brussels from Amsterdam on the high speed Thalys train, which arrives in Midi station. I am hoping we can walk to the hotel from the station. My trip is in early May. Thanks again for the tip, Nancy! I greatly appreciate it.

m,

You might try http://www.arishotel.be/en/hotel-aris/OTMy

It's in a great location, within easy walking distance to both Brussels Central as well as Grand Place. It's not luxurious but I found the rooms to be very comfortable. Last time I was there, one of the minor "annoyances" was the fact that they charged for Wi-Fi. It appears they're now including FREE Wi-Fi, which is great news!

I just wrote this exact same answer on another thread....check out Le Vaudeville which is within the Galerie de la Reine a block or so from Grand Place. Very quirky....that is, it's not really a hotel but a virtually unmanned B&B you enter through an unmarked (locked) door and then need a passcode to use the elevator. Read about it on Trip Advisor!
