Ghent accommodations - family of four

Our family (kids, 10 and 7) are traveling this July to Belgium. We have a place (actually 2, indecisive over here) in Bruges for 3 days, unfortunately the B&B we stayed in is closed.
After read several posts it seems most people prefer Ghent. From the sounds of it, I would probably would too. My husband loves Bruges; the charm, chocolate, and beer - but not the tourists. I am sure I can convince him all of that is available in Ghent.
I am having trouble finding a place that can fit us all in one room or finding a good place that is central since we’ve never been before. He also loves breakfast so a place that serves a good one or near a cafe/bakery would be best.

Our trip was 2 adults, so might not work for you but, we stayed at the Hotel Carlton it is very close to the Gent-Sint-Pieters train station. We found it very handy to travel to other city's. It is a bit far from the city center but the tram is very close by, and easy to navigate, it only takes a few minutes to ride to the city center.. Pretty much loved everything about the hotel, staff, and owners. I would stay here any time we visit Ghent.

The breakfast was great. We were very happy with it. Eggs cooked to order, along with just about anything else you could want. I don't even remember all of it. Bacon. pancakes, fresh orange juice. Then also the more European cold cuts, cheese, all kinds of breads, dried and fresh fruit. I tell you I could rave about this place for days.

PS. One of the best meals we had on our 4 week trip last year was at the Café Parti which is on the square just outside of the train station.

This is a repeat of what I have said on other threads.

Hope you have a great trip.
