Free Centrum Shuttle in Bruges

Granted the RS guidebook I’m using is 5+ years old, but hadn’t heard about the free shuttle to the center until our B&B suggested it.

From your train, follow the Signs for Centrum shuttle. The stop is right outside the train station across a plaza (but not with the other big busses). It’s a mini bus that does a loop from the train station through historic Brugge. It runs every 25 minutes and holds about 12 +/- people. We only had a two block walk to our B&B from our stop.

Here’s the link.

We used it spring, 2024. It runs 7 days a week, 7 am- 7pm, and runs on time. Find the green and white sign ( with graphic ) by the curb. Walk straight out from the entrance to the train station.
Have a great trip!

Thanks Karen! This will come in very handy when I am in Bruges in less than two weeks (YAY!).

I'll just add that if the regular bus works better for you, all of the De Lijn buses and trams do now take Tap-to-Pay, it is a single "tap to get on", no tapping to get off.

Anyone with a more recent guidebook? If it’s not in there it should be. Even Google maps for public transportation does not show as option

This morning in Ghent we used credit card to tap and pay for bus on the way to train station.

I have the latest book and am happy to report that the free shuttle is described very nicely in it!

PLEASE BE AWARE:

The shuttle bus will no longer be free from July 1st 2025. More information can be found here: https://press.visitbruges.be/en/news/centre-shuttle-be-paid-visitors-1-july-2025

From that date on, the best option to go into the city center or your hotel is take the regular bus services from De Lijn (bus n° 1 or 2 from platform A1 left from the station exit) that come by around every 10 minutes and get off at the OLV Kerk or Dijver. To go back to the station, you can take the bus (also 1 or 2) from the Stadsschouwburg (theatre building 2 mins away from the Markt).

From he station it's only a 15 min walk to the Markt and Burg, the two main squares in the heart of the city, so you can walk as well if you have no luggage with you.

Greetings from team Visit Bruges

If you wanted to ride rather than walk, why wouldn't you just pay the 3 Euro fare? We didn't use the shuttle while in Bruges last summer; but, it goes everywhere and seems convenient. We just like walking.
