I'm driving through Dinant with my family. We'd like to stop here for lunch and to explore for a few hours. Anyone have recommendations on great places to eat? Must see spots? Great parking? Thanks!
You can park your car at the backside of the citadel and take the funicular or walk the stairs down to the town centre. Near the car park nice views of Dinant and surroundings. You can visit the citadel, nice views from there too.
If music is of interest you can visit the home of the inventor of the saxophone, Rudolphe Sax.
If you are on the side of the river where all the shops are, remember to cross the bridge to take a photo of the church and town from the opposite side of the river. Dinant is stunning but more so from that angle. Along the riverbank on the town side are restaurants. I can't recommend one but the location is nice. You can also take a river cruise.

Oh, and I will mention the very jawbreaking couque de Dinant. It is a biscuit (Am Eng = cookie) made in special traditional moulds which is extremely hard to eat and is better put on display (no, really - I don't know how long for but eating is not the main function). There used to be shops near the bridge that sold it, you will find it somewhere.

We stayed at La Merveilleuse by Infiniti Resorts and there were plenty of spots where one could park near it without using a hotel spot. It’s a five or so minutes downhill walk to the town center. There are also so free spots at Parking de la Gare on Sq. Brigade Piron. One can search on parking in Google maps to find other lots.
We had pizza at La famiglia along the river by the bridge when we were there.
Brasserie Caracole is a very nice small brewery about 15 minutes south. They're in a small 250 year old field stone building that has a lot of charm.
