We are traveling to Brugge and would like to do a few day trips. We welcome suggestions. A town on the coast? Antwerp?
Thank you very much!

One idea is Ypres, where you could visit World War I sites. Ypres is about 45 miles away and accessible from Bruges via train or bus.
As mentioned above, a small group tour to Flanders Fields and WW1 sights, train to Ghent or Brussels, bike along the canal to Damne.
The Atlantikwall Museum near Ostend on the coast. Train to Ostend, then the coastal tram to the museum. We also went to DeHaan for a late lunch and to dip our toes. There's also an aquarium further up the coast. All of this reached via the tram. Easy.
Addendum to earlier remarks: Another suggestion is to rent a bicycle in Bruges. There's a path out of town that you can take all the way to Netherlands, if you'd like. Bicycle rental places will know the path I'm talking about.
Knokke-Heist for posh seaside living. Visit the nature reserve Het Zwin while you are there. Or go where the people of Brugge go when they go for an excursion, Sluis in the Netherlands.

We're staying in Bruges for a week in early October and have a couple of day trips planned. One to Ghent by train and a WW1 tour that includes Ypres. The tour is by Quasimodo https://quasimodo.be/
Month of year? War history interest? Art museum priority?
