My friend and I will be taking a day trip from Brussels to Ghent this fall.. Is it worth buying their city pass, or will we not be able to see enough in one day?
Gent can be visited in a day, but check prices for sights to see if the pass is worth it. You don't need public transportation, everything is walkable.
On that topic, Rick's guidebook says, "Busy sightseers might save a few euros with the CityCard Gent, but on a day-trip blitz with this book, it’s probably not worth it." That analysis is at least partly based on the fact that there's no single-day price; cheapest is €30 for 48 hours. The top 5 (starred) sites that Rick lists in Ghent are basically all open 10:00-18:00 and if you did see all 5 in 8 hours then you'd spend €38 for regular admission
Ok! Thanks for the input!
