Cheap base camp near Brussels?

Flying into Brussels for a 7-day trip in mid-March, and I'm seeking a cheap "base camp" near Brussels.

I've rented a few times from VRBO and Flipkey, and looking for a one-bedroom rental near Brussels. As I only need to be in Brussels for a 2 days total (and more than willing to take the train in), I'm open to possibilities in all parts of Belgium, or even across the border in France, the Netherlands, Germany, or Luxembourg.

Possibly Leuven? The reason I suggest it is that it's a university town, so there might be some options at student prices, or students looking to sublet for whatever reason. And, it's pleasant.
Or you might be able to find something in Zaventem that's meant for flight crew members. I had a work project near Vilvoorde some years back, and that was what the company found for me.
