Does anyone know if we need reservations to take train (labeled IC) from Brussels to Bruge and Ostend or can we easily get tickets the morning of!
No, reservations are never needed for Belgian internal trains. Just buy a ticket at the station and get on the train.
You don’t need reservations. Once you have a ticket, you can take any train on that route and no issue getting the ticket the day of.
Reservations aren't just unnecessary on Belgian domestic trains, they aren't available at all.
Note that sometimes the trains between Brussels and Bruges at popular "day trip" days and times can get very crowded.
Yes, the train can get crowded. There was no seating on mine in 2nd class. Felt like cattle. It’s a long way to stand. Air conditioning isn’t great either.
Sat in first class on return inadvertently as I hadn’t realized there were two classes. Person selling the ticket didn’t offer a choice. They just gave me a ticket. I sat in that car because there were seats and a place to plug in my device. Air co worked as well. They let me stay by paying the difference. It was worth it to me, might not be for everyone.
