What would be the best place to train to from Brussels in the Loire Valley to rent a car. This will be toward the end of October.

Probably St. Pierre des Corps. It's nearest to Tours, and has the TGV stop from Paris. This is pretty much in the central part of the Loire. Amboise is a short drive away. The station has several different rental car agencies to choose from.

Keep in mind that you have to take a Thalys train from Brussels to Paris and it ends at Gare du Nord. The TGV trains to St-Pierre-des-Corps leave from Gare Montparnasse, so you need to figure in the transfer time on Metro Line #4. If you have too much luggage or don't like the Metro, you can take a train from Brussels to Lille (over the border in France), rent a car there, and drive directly to the Loire.
