Has anyone used the taxi service that Hotel Harmony (the first tour hotel on our Holland/Belgium tour) offers from the Brussels airport to the Hotel Harmony in Ghent? I know there are train options but am curious about the convenience of the taxi service even if it is more pricey. Thank you.
Never used it, but traffic around Brussels is terrible on weekday mornings and evenings, so I'd rather take the train on a weekday. Some trains are direct from the airport to Gent St Pieters (others require an easy change at Bruxelles Central) and you can easily find a taxi in Gent.
Or the Hotel Harmony (one of my favourite hotels until Rick put it in his book - now I can't afford it) is just a few feet from the tram stop near by. It is an easy connection from the station.
Didn’t use the taxi. In 2018, we took the train from Bruges to the Sint Pieters station, then took the number 1 tram to Gravenstein castle. Hotel Harmony is a 2 minutes walk from the castle. We enjoyed hotel Harmony, but our room and its layout were interesting. We had to go through the hotel, then outside to get to the room. If it is raining, you get wet. In the room itself, the toilet (no sink) was in a small room on one side of the bed, while the sink and shower were in a small room on the other side of the bed. The location is great and the breakfast buffet was good.
Google Maps currently shows 1 hr for this car trip. It also shows 1hr for the few direct trains from BRU, and 1:10 for the more common 2-train (change in downtown Brussels.) Now I understand why a budget hotel would offer this decadent Masters of the Universe transfer product!
I agree that traffic in this area of Belgium is more like Los Angeles than like Park City in the summer. Take your choice, JF.
