Brussels to Beernem by train

In a couple of weeks, my spouse and I will be traveling from Brussels (Eurostar station) and want to take the train Ghent or maybe on to our final destination, Beernem. Do we need to make reservations in advance? Anything tricky about doing this? (We don't speak/read local language).

Thanks.

These are frequent Belgian Intercity trains that are unreserved and always the same price. Think commuter trains. You can look at the schedules at https://www.belgiantrain.be/en, You may even qualify for discounts depending on your age.

BTW, the Eurostar station is Bruxelles-Midi or Brussel-Zuid, depending on if you are speaking French or Dutch (Flemish). and don't worry, you will get by just fine in English.

You don't have to buy tickets in advance, but you can if you prefer. You can even do it on your phone or on a machine in the station, and the machines all have options for English. Tickets are good for any train and don't attach to a time, only a day. The Eurostar station (Brussels-Midi) is the same train station you would want for Ghent and Bruges, and indeed Beernem. There are no tricks involved and English is widely spoken (although maybe a little less in rural areas).
