At the risk of being snarky... the fact that Brussels Midi and Nord stations are rough is nothing new, alas.
Crack only makes things worse, and is notoriously difficult to address.

Very sad about the crack but….agree with Balso. Even when my parents lived in Brussels in the mid-1970’s Midi and Nord stations were quite rough areas.
