My sister and I will be in Belgium during this year's bi-annual Flower Carpet Event (August 12-15).
If you have experience attending previous 'FCE' would you please share your true experience and possibly share your experience and observations?
Too, if you have visited Mechelen or Leuven, which would you be happiest to return to? We are not interested in museums, per se, but mostly enjoying the delight/architecture/scenery of new places.

I realize there is no substitute for the Flower Carpet, but I look forward to the September reopening of the very important KMSKA art museum in Antwerp.
The town hall in Leuven is very impressive, and there are some nice restaurants in the same square where you can enjoy the view. Mechelen is known for it's carillon school. I enjoyed Mechelen very much, but based on your interests, I would choose Leuven.
If you do go to Mechelen, definitely consider eating at De Witten Vos! We loved it so much that we ate there 3 times in 1 day - lunch, snack, and dinner.
