I'm planning my second RS tour! The group meets in Ghent. From NYC the best city to fly to is Brussels. Does anyone have experience getting from the Brussels airport to Ghent via bus or train?

The connection is by train with a change at Bruxelles Midi (aka Brussel Zuid). Trains are very frequent, so there is no need to worry about the making the connection. Buy the tickets on arrival. Trains in Belgium don't require reservations or advance buying. www.belgianrail.be/jp/sncb-nmbs-routeplanner/query.exe/en gives the details. The main station in Gent is Gent Sint-Pieters.

To add to the excellent information provided by tonfromleiden, while most of the trains involve a change in Brussels, there are 2 trains per hour that also go directly from the Brussels airport to Ghent., so no need to change trains.
