We are 4 adults traveling from Brussel's airport to Bruges. Any shuttle services that you can recommend. Train tickets from airport to central station then IC train plus bus or taxi to hotel in Bruges add up quickly! Thanks, jsb
I'll be interested to see, jsb, if you find that a service for the 4 of you is cheaper than the very cheap tickets on the train and cheap bus in Bruges.
Can you post what you find?
Belgium has some of the least expensive public transportation in western Europe. I highly doubt you will find a cheaper shuttle service.
I'm inclined to agree with Tom. A black-car service from Brussels (not Bruges) to the airport starts above 50 Euros. It's ironic that the airport train plus the local train to Bruges is your "problem". Budget travelers using Ryanair and the like are constantly shocked to discover that their plane lands at Charleroi, not BRU, and they have little choice of transportation to Bruges.
Note that you can take any train from any of the three stations in Brussels to Bruges, not just IC. No seat reservations (sometimes no seats! till Antwerp.) BTW, are you considering visiting any cities besides Bruges? The trains are ideal for daytrips when you get bored with Bruges in the evening.
I found these websites and prices. Airporttaxitransfers- 120 Euro, Brusselsexpress.be- 138 Euro and Shuttledirect- 112 Euro. This would be airport to hotel convenience. Anyone have any knowledge of these companies? Thanks, jsb
There are actually direct trains from the airport all the way to Bruges, with no need to change in central Brussels. You can look up times at www.belgianrail.be, but no point in buying tickets in advance.
