Brugge to Breda by train

Hello !! We will be traveling from Brugge to Breda tomorrow morning, Saturday March 23.
I have 2 questions
1-is there an way to get a direct train if its intercity ?? I thought I saw a post about a direct train from here to there but we walked back to the Brugge train station and spoke with the B train folks and it seems it requires a transfer & takes close to 3.5 hrs total.. this would be the 0945 to Brussels Midi changing to the train to Breda arriving 1:18 or so. The fair for 2 is 85 which seems high and a loner trip than I expected
2- do I need to get something special for border crossing ? There was red print on the schedule that worried me.

Thank you in advance

There is no direct rain from Brugges to Breda.
The IC trains that run to and from Brugges don't cross borders.
Just buy the ticket on this site
https://www.b-europe.com/EN

You will get two tickets:
Brugges to Brussels
Brussels to Breda

Ok, thank you. That was the original plan, I’m fine on the app and not at the B office for an extra 7 Euro, right ? They don’t do anything special ? When I also tried to look at the voyage separately on IC and then B, it was the same price in the end, but said “one of these trains is full “
If I use the site that you pointed out (I already made a profile) there is not a reserved seat, is there any chance the train will be full ?
Thanks again

Those trains don't have reserved seats; it is first come first served.
You can also buy tickets from the kiosk at the train station.

Thanks.. they said either in their office for 7 Euro or on the app, somehow I am not able to use the Kiosk.. not a problem.
Meanwhile, it’s cold & drizzly here in Brugge and you would be surprised, it’s as crowded as NY Eve in Times Square, I kid you not !!

Not surprised about Brugge being overcrowded; I work in higher ed; it's spring break everywhere.

Yes ! I work in a school as well, but these are also huge tour groups of adults from Asia, Latin countries etc. NYC schools are not off till next week. Not really college students.
Thx !!

You will get two tickets: Brugges to Brussels Brussels to Breda

Why would you get two tickets? They should be able to sell you a simple Brugge - Breda ticket.

Normally it would take you 2h20 to do this trip. And if you had bought the ticket a bit in advance it would have been a lot cheaper. But this weekend there are works on the line from Brugge to Gent, and from Gent to Antwerpen, so the quick route via Antwerpen is not available.

is there any chance the train will be full ?

There is always a chance that more people board a train then there are seats, and then some people have to stand. But conventional trains do not sell out in this part of Europe. You will always be able to buy a ticket for Breda at the station, and it will be good for any train on the route.

We are on the train now from Brussels to Breda (the Rotterdam train) yes, it was all in one ticket on the app… yes we see that yesterday the trip was one hour shorter, which we assumed was a weekend delay of choices but I saw the board in Brussels has delays all along the Ghent line. So thankful we are headed away from the track work because originally we were meeting our Breda friends in Antwerp on way to Amsterdam but changed plans when they warned of the track work.
This was simple, the app makes all the difference & of course, all of the help here.

I hope you have a nice day in my home town! Make sure your friends take you to the Beguinage (Begijnhof in Dutch). The one is Breda is one of the only two remaining Beguinages in the Netherlands. And of course a visit to the beautiful church on the market square is a must do! Enjoy your day!

My Breda friend is sitting with me and reminded me that we were there when I last visited 10 years ago… I have the photos on my phone. Thank you for the reminder, we will revisit for sure !! Made it here with ease, thankful for all of the hints. Amsterdam tomorrow
