Bruges vs Gent chocolate tour

I’ll be in both for a few days each, but I’m interested in taking a chocolate tour in only one of them and would love it if the tour incorporated some nice history tidbits. Which would you recommend? This, of course, does not preclude my eating chocolate in both towns!

I can't suggest a tour, but be sure and stop for a meal or chocolate at In Choc Gent across from Gravensteen Castle. The waffles drizzled in chocolate!!! The employees told us they'd been there for decades. It's lovely! I thought I was just going in the buy a piece of chocolate. You'll love Ghent and Bruges. Enjoy!

Just back from 3 weeks in Belgium and wanted to report that we took the Charlie Tours chocolate tour in Ghent and had a great time. We had a small group of 8, ended up tasting 9 different sweet treats and picked up some great history tips while walking through the town. They also do tours in Bruges, although we just ended up finding some of the Rick Steves' recommended shops on our own there.

Can't speak as to Ghent, but it's really not hard to find good chocolate in Bruges. The problem is getting it home without melting.

Just curious. Is there a fridge to store the chocolates at the hotels? This way, it won't be melting before you go home.

Maybe you put the chocolates in the insulated bag. This way it won't be melted easily.

remember that many of the artisan chocolates are made with fresh cream and have a very limited shelf life. Now that's never a problem in my family ...

Also because of the fresh cream they are banned in the UK (since April due to Foot and Mouth disease on the continent) as is everything dairy or red meat or pork. If transiting London finish them before you arrive.
