I am planning a trip to Bruges this summer. I have checked all the places in Rick's book and I am surprised that the prices are so high. Wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions. Thanks so much!
We stayed at the Royal Stewart bed and breakfast and found it very satisfactory. The rooms comfortable, breakfast great , and the hosts super friendly. They always made sure we had a parking spot near their home. I believe they were in Rick's book and not expensive.
We stayed at the Royal Stewart as well--and enjoyed it--but according to the online updates for the blue books it's now under new ownership, will be known as Hamilton's B&B, and won't open until 06/01/2014.
Try Hotel Notre Dame. It's listed in Rick's book. The owner is supposed to keep his prices down while the place is being renovated. Be sure to only stay in a renovated room--it was pretty dumpy before the new owner bought it.
We loved staying at the Dieltens B&B listed in Rick's book. We stayed in the low season (November) and paid 70 euro a night. The extensive breakfast is amazing, and the hosts, room, and location are outstanding. In looking at their website, it looks like a price for two people is 70-90 euro. http://www.bedandbreakfastbruges.be/
I was there in November and had to venture beyond the RS book recommendations. Had a great stay at Europ Hotel (google or check out on TripAdvisor). Spacious room for 71 euro (probably an off-season rate). Huge breakfast spread, convenient location, 5 minute walk north of Markt Square.
Hi there - We were in Bruges in Dec 2013 and stayed at Cote Canal B&B. We paid 150 euros per night for one of the suites. I would highly recommend the place (if that is in your budget) and would go back and stay there if I could.
Hi Martin, try the Hotel Adornes, www.adornes.be. I enjoyed my stay there last May. The hotel is located a short walking distance from the square and there are several nice restaurants near by. The room was large and very clean. Nice breakfast. Free wifi in the lobby and recreation room. The staff was exceptionally helpful. Loved Bruges, have a great trip!
A few years ago we stayed at the Hotel Fevery and were quite happy. It was well priced..we were there in early May. A quick glance at tripadvisor shows many good reviews continue.
The best thing you can do is go to a site like Venere.com or Booking.com and see what is there. I've found their descriptions to be reasonably accurate. We used Venere to find the Hotel Lace which was nice enough and fantastically located near excellent parking if you are traveling by car.
