Thanks in advance.

I liked the Dukes’ Academie (not to be confused with the Hotel Dukes’ Palace). It was a decent hotel, great location. Within walking distance to everything, including the train station. And the breakfast was so good. I stayed there Sept./Oct. 2023.

Note the Centrum Shuttle, free transportation circular route from the train station through the old town, 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Makes it easy getting around.
In my Trip Report, posted on your other thread, I've named our wonderful Bruges cottage, right on a canal. I'd highly recommend that property. Safe Travels!

Tcgnj,
Yesssss! I'd return in a heartbeat. The wood burning fireplace was great on a rainy day, or cool evenings. Every afternoon, sweet treats were left out. And - a two block walk to the main plaza.
The property has about six units, so don't wait to book. And, they want cash to be paid at the end of the stay.
Enjoy!

We’re looking for hotel in old part of Brugge for early June. We’ll look at those. Has anyone recently stayed at Hotel ter Reien? https://www.hotelterreien.be/en/p/home It’s mentioned in Rick’s Belgium book, however, overall reviews at 3.4 stars suggest there may be some concerns. Would welcome comments about recent stays there. Thank you! Frank

We liked Hotel de Orangerie which is on a canal near where the canal boats depart. It is easy to walk throughout the Old Town area of Bruge from this hotel and the breakfast was outstanding.

Cannot say enough about Pat’s suggestion of Canals Deluxe B&B….just got home from there and it was certainly the highlight of our trip stays…..cozy, charming, a garden view, flower-filled courtyard……WOW….cake left out every day for an afternoon treat and an easy walk to the main square. I would suggest that of you have any staircase issues that you left the owners know so that they can make certain you get booked in a room with the least number of spiral staircases as possible…a fabulous warm breakfast served every morning overlooking their gardens……I want to go back!

Another vote for Canal Deluxe. We booked after reading Pat’s trip report and enjoyed our stay very much.

I absolutely loved Hotel Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce. It was such a beautiful, charming hotel that was very comfortable. Getting a room with a canal view was well worth the little splurge. It was walking distance to everything I wanted to see. The staff was lovely, as was the morning breakfast. If I head to Bruges again, I would definitely book it again.

We liked the Hotel Fevery when we visited a long time ago, however the most current reviews on Bookingdotcom are quite favorable, in the 9s and 10s for location, breakfasts, friendliness and comfort. It was reasonably priced then and continues to appear to be so still. Safe travels.

We recently returned from a trip to Brugge. Stayed at the Crown Plaza and was very happy with the choice. It's downtown with easy walking distance to all the town squares and most of what you would want to see there. Staff was excellent and the breakfast was excellent.

I was about to suggest the Crowne Plaza too. It has an underground garage with decent sized (not free) spaces, an excellent breakfast, fabulous location on the Burg, and even Roman artifacts in the basement (free to visit).

Not cheap, but most definitely nice.

If you're looking for something a bit different, we loved the Hotel de Barge! As the name implies, it's an actual decommissioned barge on the canal leading into town. It's a fairly short, leafy stroll to the Minnewater area. The rooms aren't huge, but they're well appointed, and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. They also have an upscale restaurant on the premises. (Check open days because it's not open every night of the week.)

My only caveat is that it's more convenient with a car, because it would be just slightly too far to walk to the hotel from the train station. But if you have a car it's great because they have designated parking right in front.
