I have 5 nights in June in Belgium. I definitely want to stay in Bruges again. I've already been to Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels, Lier and Leuven.
Should I book a place in Bruges the whole time, and what other cities can you recommend as day trips? Thanks.
Also traveling by train, no car.

I've got a weak spot for Mechelen. Halfway between Antwerp and Brussels it's almost totally overlooked, while it is such a nice place with everything you expect from a Flemish city.
Regular connections from Brugge, taking 1,5 to 2 hrs, either direct or with a change in Gent or Brussels.
