Bruges and Brussels hotel suggestion

Looking for reasonable price accommodation suggestions for Bruges. I will be spending 5 nights. Looking for city center. I plan on doing day trips to Ghent and Oostende and will be taking the train

Also looking for accommodation recommendations for Brussels near central station.

I will preface this by saying I have not stayed in any of these places, but I am going to Bruges in the spring and have spent a lot of time researching highly rated, nicely located hotels and B&B's. Below is what made the short list:

Hotel Biskajer

B&B Yasmine

B&B Anna9

B&B Huis Willaeys

Dukes Acadamie

Hotel Patritius

I ended up booking Hotel Patritius mainly for the location, price and a free breakfast.

Good luck and have fun in Bruges!

I stayed at the Hotel Patritius last spring & it was very nice. Good location...close to a bus stop & easy walk to the Grote Markt, but just removed enough to be nice and quiet. My room was in their newer building & was huge with a nice little sitting area! Very comfy bed too.

In Brussels Le Dixseptième - near Brussels Central Station. Don't stay anywhere near Brussels Midi station, it's not nice.

I may be able to help you if I knew what reasonable was for you.
Looks like you have a great trip in the works. When is this trip?
Safe travels!

I plan on traveling early March. My price range is around $100–$130 per night. With breakfast included.

Bruges - I am hoping for central location. I will be there five days and will go from the airport to Bruges so that will be the first part of my trip.

Brussels - will be the last 4 days of my trip. I understand around central station is a safer area to stay.

Hi Carrie, with that budget Le Dixseptième might be off the menu. In a similar location I would try the Ibis (I think its name is 'Off Grand' Place'), which is even closer to the Grand' Place but less close to Central. I don't know much about its rates but it is a pretty good budget hotel in a good location.

In Brussels what do you feel is a safe area? I am thinking of staying around central station.
Any other hotel suggestions?

I stayed at the ibis in Brussels Lavandula mentions above a few years ago for several nights and would stay there again. There are a few ibis hotels in that general area. This one is called “ibis Brussels off Grand Place.” It’s about halfway between Brussels-Central Station and Grand Place. Both are about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Good areas for tourists that are safe are the area around Central, the centre-ville around Grand' Place and the Ste.-Catherine area, the Sablons area, as well as the Louise / Stéphanie district. To that I would add the European Quarter, where you can find real weekend bargains because the Eurocrats have gone home and are not occupying those hotels.

Areas that are not so good are around Bruxelles-Midi station, Bruxelles-Nord station, and the northern part of the city (near Rogier / Botanique metro, St.-Josse and parts of Schaerbeek, although other parts are very good). There is still plenty of scope in those safe areas to find good accommodation, dozens of good hotels in fact.
