i will be in belgium for a week, monday 5/26-monday 6/2. i will be based in brussels and doing day trips to bruges, ghent, antwerp, and tournai. i will be travelling around via public transportation. i downloaded and created accounts on both the sncb and stib-mivb apps. i may be wrong, but it seems that brussels does not have a weekly pass. however, the monthly pass at 66 euros seems attractive, especially if this statement regarding the monthly pass is true: 'Unlimited travel within the Brussels-Capital Region on STIB/MIVB, TEC, De Lijn, and SNCB-NMBS networks.' does this mean that I can travel anywhere in belgium for 30 days on a 66 euro pass? seems too good to be true, thus trying to verify here. thanks!

You’ve already answered your own question:

This means the pass is valid only in Brussels and therefore not in the rest of the country.

Take a look at the Standard Multi 10-journey pass? My husband and I shared one of these and it worked really well for us. I guess you might have to weigh the cost against individual tickets but take a look? A journey is considered to be one way between two stations or stopping points so, say, from Brussels to Bruges (direct train) is one journey; from Bruges back to Brussels (direct train) is a 2nd journey.
