Belgium Beer Tours

Hello,

After 3 nights in Amsterdam and Cologne in a couple of weeks, myself and 2 friends will spend a week in Ghent the last week of October. While we anticipate a couple days in Ghent and probable day trips to Brugges, Antwerp, and Brussels, we have been unsuccessful in finding a good 3 to 6 hour beer tour in any of these 4 cities . I have been to Belgium several times before and have a good handle on where to go, both mentioned in RS books and through my own travels but RS does not seem to mention any beer tours in his book. I have googled a few times and several pop up but was wondering if anyone has any experiences or suggestions on finding a nice tour that will take us to off the beaten track places away from the tourists and led by a local guide who appreciates Belgian beer culture. We will not have a car and will be reliant on our legs and public transportation. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

In Ghent with over 260 beers de Dulle Griet is a well-known place for drinking and maybe they can tell you more about beertours.

City brewery Gruut offers tours to small groups, look if there is room to join one. www.gruut.be

Delerium Tremens (pink elephant) in nearby village of Melle offers tours. www.delirium.be
You need to take the tram and the bus for the final leg, the latter stops in front of the brewery.
