Bastogne Hotels

I would appreciate hotel recommendations for Bastogne.

Right now I'm looking at Hotel Melba. Has anybody stayed there? If so, what did you think of it?

Thanks

Can't say anything about the Hotel Melba. I stayed a Hotel Leo at Home, which was right in the city center and had a great restaurant. If you stay in that hotel, you get a discount when you eat there. Think about staying for two nights. I had to "blitz" Bastogne but I would have liked to spend more time at the new museum. Also, hire a guide if you can to take you around the battlefield sites sights--the Easy Company foxholes are still there.

Hotel Melba (assume you mean Best Western Melba) is very nice. We had a great stay there. Breakfast was good and the people were friendly. This was maybe eight years ago, so check recent reviews to make sure it’s still good.

Check TripAdvisor to see what people say about it, or check other hotels in the town. Bastogne, at least the old part, isn’t very large.

T - Thanks for the information. My husband and I are huge Band of Brothers fans so we would love to see those foxholes.

When I was last there, there were photos in the town center taken right after the battle of the bulge so you can compare then and now. There also used to be a tank in the center of town. Hope you have a chance to get to Normandy.

Yes. We went to Normandy in 2010, I think the last year Battlebus was in operation. We did their two day American Experience tour and the Band of Brothers/101st Airborne tour.

We also stayed at Hotel Leo, enjoyed it and would stay there again. Regarding tour guides for the area we used Roby Clam and were pleased. Along with Band of Brothers sights he will also show you where many other units fought and give you their story. While in Bastogne be sure to visit the 101st Airborne Museum.

You are welcome. The reviews I've read about Reg Jans are very good so I'm sure you can't go wrong either way. Enjoy!
