Backpack rules

I assume that many/most European museums require checking of normal-size backpacks. Many US
stadiums and festivals now require clear-plastic backpacks for entry Is that the case in European
countries??? Would we be wise to take a clear-plastic backpack to Europe this year for such possibilities??

If your backpack is too big per the museum’s requirements, it does not matter if it’s clear or not. The size requirement is more about accidentally bumping and damaging a priceless object on display. Some museums (such as Vatican Museums or the Uffizi Gallery) get so crowded that your backpack may be more of a hinderance. You may be required to check your backpack or may be asked to wear the backpack in the front.

Some museums make visitors put their bags through an ex-ray machine to check for dangerous objects. Other museums have security guards take a quick look into visitors bags. The security check will be in addition to size requirements.

No, only pick up something when you find you actually need it (meaning after you've read the entry rules regarding bags). What do you need to put in back pack when going to stadiums and festivals that couldn't just go in a plastic bag?

No, it’s not going to matter what the backpack is made of as to whether they make you check it or not. They don’t want you banging into anything in a museum.
